Family Unlocked

License Agreement

Version 0.3 · October 30, 2026 · DTR Operations Group LLC

1. Who this agreement is between, and accepting it

This agreement is between you and DTR Operations Group, LLC, a Virginia limited liability company (State Corporation Commission ID 12072658). "DTR", "we", "us" and "our" mean that company. "You" means the person who buys, or is given, a Family Unlocked license. "Your household" is defined in section 3.

You accept this agreement by ticking the box at checkout, or by choosing "I agree" when the app first opens.

If you don't agree, don't use Family Unlocked. If you paid for it, tell us within 30 days of buying and we'll refund the full price (section 8). This voluntary 30-day policy doesn't limit any refund or other right the law gives you.

2. What you get

You are buying a license to use Family Unlocked, not the software itself.

DTR gives your household a permanent, non-exclusive license to install Family Unlocked on the computers your household uses, and to use it for your own family's planning and, when the time comes, for carrying out that plan.

This license has no scheduled expiration, subject only to the withdrawal grounds in section 5. It includes the version 1 updates described in section 7.

3. Your household

"Your household" means the people who live with you, and the people your plan names to act for you or your family, such as an executor, a trustee, an agent under a power of attorney, or grown children. They may open your plan, including on their own computers, in order to carry it out.

Being part of your household under this agreement gives no one legal authority over your affairs; that comes only from your legal documents and the law.

4. Your license key

Your license comes with a license key, sent by email. The key shows your family's name inside the app. You enter it once; the app checks it on your computer, with no internet connection needed, and saves it inside your plan.

Please:

The license can't be transferred to another household, except that it passes with your plan to the people in your household who carry it out (section 3).

5. When DTR may withdraw a key

DTR withdraws a key only if:

  1. it has been posted publicly or shared outside your household;
  2. the purchase was refunded or charged back; or
  3. DTR issued it by mistake. In that case, if the mistake wasn't yours, we send you a replacement key at no charge.

What withdrawal means:

6. Beta and free licenses

Some families receive Family Unlocked free, as beta testers or as a gift from DTR. Their license is the same as a paid one, with four differences:

7. Updates

8. Refunds (paid licenses)

30-day refund, no questions asked. Within 30 days of buying, reply to your purchase email or write to dtroperationsgroup@gmail.com, and we'll refund the full price the way you paid.

After a refund, your key is withdrawn in a later update. Section 5 describes what keeps working; your files are never deleted.

9. Your information

Where your plan is kept

Your plan is kept on your computer, in a folder you can choose in Backup & settings. Its contents are encrypted in a plan file with a passphrase you choose; attached scans are encrypted separately, in the Attachments folder beside it. A few details stay readable without unlocking: your passphrase hint, file dates, and the optional family-name label.

What leaves your computer, and what doesn't

Planning and license checks work on your computer without an internet connection. The app doesn't upload your plan to DTR, and DTR never receives your plan. Links to updates open in your web browser. "Send feedback" opens your own email program with a message that includes the app version and your computer's operating system; you decide whether to send it. On Windows, installing Family Unlocked may download Microsoft's WebView2 component, which has its own data practices.

Cloud folders

If your computer copies the plan's folder to a cloud service such as iCloud or OneDrive, the encrypted plan file goes with it. That is between you and that service, not DTR; check your cloud service's settings to see whether a folder syncs. Copies of a plan on different computers don't merge on their own.

Backups

Before the first save of the day, the app tries to make a backup copy of your plan on your computer, and warns you if it can't. It keeps the 14 most recent daily copies, then one copy from each of the 12 earlier months in which you made changes. These copies don't include your scans. "Export everything" saves your plan and scans together, for example to a USB drive; check any warning it shows. DTR can't recover a plan for you.

Passphrase and recovery key

If you forget the passphrase, the recovery key for that plan can unlock it. If you make a new recovery key, it doesn't unlock older backups made with the old one. Recovery needs an intact plan file; it can't recreate missing files. If both the passphrase and the recovery key are lost, nobody can open the plan, including DTR. Printouts, saved PDFs and saved copies of scans aren't encrypted; protect them like any paper record.

What DTR keeps

DTR keeps a record of each license key it issues (the name on the key, the email it was sent to, the date and the reason), notes DTR makes about setting up your family, and any feedback you email us. The payment provider that handles your purchase keeps the payment details. Please don't send your plan file, passphrase or recovery key with a support request. Our Privacy Policy explains how all of this is handled.

10. Not legal, tax or financial advice

Family Unlocked organizes your family's information and explains common rules in plain, general language. It is not legal, tax or financial advice, and it doesn't make DTR or anyone else your lawyer.

11. What DTR does and doesn't promise

For a paid license, DTR will make reasonable efforts to keep Family Unlocked working as described on its product page when you bought it, and to fix problems in version 1 that we can reproduce. Free licenses are offered as they are (sections 6 and 12).

OTHER THAN THAT, AND TO THE EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, FAMILY UNLOCKED IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

DTR doesn't promise that the app will be free of errors, that the general information in it fits your family's situation, or that it will run on every future computer or operating system. This doesn't take away rights that the law doesn't allow us to exclude.

12. Limits on DTR's liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, DTR isn't liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for decisions you or your family make using the app's general information. For a paid license, DTR's total liability for any claim about Family Unlocked is limited to the amount you paid for it. A free license (beta or gift) is offered entirely as it is: DTR has no liability for it beyond what the law requires. These limits don't apply to fraud, gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any other liability the law doesn't allow us to limit.

13. If DTR closes

Family Unlocked doesn't depend on DTR's servers. DTR closing doesn't, by itself, switch off your installed app or your key. Using it still depends on a compatible computer and operating system, intact files, and your passphrase or recovery key. Updates and support would stop.

14. Who owns what

15. Ending this agreement

You may stop using Family Unlocked at any time; your files are yours to keep. DTR may withdraw your key only on the grounds in section 5, with the effects described there. Sections 9 to 14 and 16 to 18 continue to apply after this agreement ends.

16. Payments

When sales open, payments will be handled by a payment provider, which processes payment and sales tax under its own terms and privacy policy; DTR will name it at checkout. The provider's terms govern the payment; this agreement governs your use of Family Unlocked.

17. Governing law and disputes

Subject to rights the law doesn't let you waive, this agreement is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without applying its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be brought in a Virginia state court, or a federal court in Virginia that has jurisdiction, unless the law requires another venue.
